Today I read a magazine article that pointed out another downside to high-protein diets. When you digest animal protein, acids are released into the bloodstream and they need to be neutralized with calcium, pulled from the bones if necessary. That means that high-protein diets reduce bone mass and contribute to osteoporosis. Heck, Atkin's dieters can't even counteract it by drinking milk, they're not allowed milk because it has too many carbs! If the heart disease doesn't get 'em, the weak bones will.

I dunno about you guys, but I'll be having a big glass of milk with my potato-laden dinner tonight.

I was watching TV the other day, and I saw an add for low-carb cough drops. low-carb cough drops. Are people afraid that they'll gain weight with a cold? "Oh no! Having this cold is going to make me fat! I need low-carb cough drops!!" What is that???? I'm going insane just thinking about it.

Wow....finding this place just made my life. Carbs are amazing. Simply amazing. I just don't see how cutting something that your body needs out of your diet is healthy. It's just not right! I'm Italian and all we eat is carbs! I'd die without them...literally. I don't think my body could handle it.

I am sooooooo happy I found you guys!!

So, a friend of mine just reported seeing a low-carb potato in the supermarket.

I repeat, a low-carb potato.

[pause for puzzled, uncomfortable silence]

Questions:
1) How?
2) What's left?
3) Why, god? Why?

Funny thing, eating cold cereal. It's like, "Too crunchy, a little too crunchy, almost- OH PERFECT! YUMMITY SLIGHT CRUNCH AND MILKY GOODNESS- mush....mush....sludge." All that happens within about 30 seconds. And it makes you want more cereal so you can have that perfect moment again.

Hey my name's LaTrisha and I absolutely love carbs! Anything with carbs basically is part of my favorite foods... ie. bread, pasta, rice. My mother did the atkins diet and I just sat there eating my alfredo and potatoes =)

"Low-Carb Food Craze May Have Missed Atkins Wave
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Food manufacturers who have stocked store shelves with low-carbohydrate versions of everything from spaghetti sauce to ice cream may find they are eating the costs themselves, as the low-carb fad peaks, analysts and industry observers said. 'It's typical that one rushes into the party just when the party is breaking up,' said William Leach, food industry analyst at Neuberger Berman. "
